Welcome to Winchester Youth Wrestling!

As we enter our 14th season of youth wrestling in Winchester, we are happy to announce that this year we will be sponsored by the Winchester Recreation Department and you may register on this site, or at www.winrec.com.  Our great coaches will be back for another season, and we look forward to a great year of enjoyment and fitness for all participants!

Kids and parents are discovering a sport that has long been popular in other parts of the country. Wrestling offers all participants an opportunity to be successful. Practices, meets, and tournaments are organized to pit kids of similar size and ability against one another. You don’t need to be six feet tall or to buy thousands of dollars worth of equipment in order to participate. Just bring a good attitude, and we will do our best to provide enough technique and conditioning to make your experience fun and successful.

Wrestling is a unique sport. It possesses both a team and individual components. As our wrestlers gain experience and confidence, we offer a variety of scrimmages, dual meets, and tournament experiences that allow everyone to be part of the team and also attain individual accomplishments. We are proud members of the North East Regional League (NER).

Wrestling is a demanding sport. Physical conditioning, coordination, and agility are as important as technique in our instruction. Successful wrestlers develop a sense of discipline and focus that is unique to the demands of our sport.

Finally, as our many team members will attest, WRESTLING IS FUN! The nature of the sport (young kids love naturally wrestle with one another) and the many competitive games and activities that we integrate into practice make for a fun environment for participant and coach alike.

We hope that interested parents will read the Parent’s Guide posted here on our site and contact us with any questions that you may have about the sport or our program.
